Final Liberation #1
Background to the artwork:
A good friend of mine, Atle Jensen contacted me happy as usual and asked me if I remembered the buffalo head hanging in their house? Their house purchase included a so-called hunting trophy of an African water buffalo, one of the "big five".
Atle asked me if I wanted to make an art project out of the hunting trophy by lighting it on fire and creating an art image of the event. I don't think Atle finished his sentence before I answered yes, of course we do! Altle and his wife Pållan wanted to give me this unique opportunity as a gift to my photographic artistry. Atle also has an artistic streak and wanted a copy of my work, which he himself would then make into a graffiti artwork.
Added to this is that we think this animal has had to sacrifice its life in freedom in its natural environment to adorn a wall in a house far up north, far from the water buffalo's home environment to satisfy someone's ego and be a topic of conversation. So we wanted to grant the animal shell a liberation through a cremation where we moved the trophy into a figurative work of art, where the viewer himself can decide his own interpretation of the work of art. I also wish to point out that we do not take a position on the question of whether it is right or wrong to have hunting trophies. I think it's up to everyone to judge for themselves according to the law of freedom for us people to decide for ourselves what is right or wrong. We had our purpose and we have done this with this work of art for which we take our moral responsibility.

The artwork is produced on Giclée fine art print on Hanhemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315 gsm. Can also be delivered as a glass board in diamond glass.

Bakgrund till konstverket:
En god vän till mig, Atle Jensen kontaktade mig glad som vanligt och frågade mig om jag mindes buffelhuvudet som hängde i deras hus? I deras husköp ingick det en så kallad jakttrofé av en afrikansk vattenbuffel, en av de " big five".
Atle frågade mig om jag ville göra ett konstprojekt av jakttrofén med att elda upp det och skapa en konstbild av händelsen. Jag tror inte Atle han avsluta sin mening innan jag svarade ja, absolut det gör vi! Altle och hans fru Pållan ville ge mig detta unika tillfälle som en gåva till mitt fotografiska konstnärskap. Atle har även en konstnärlig ådra och ville ha ett exemplar av mitt verk som han själv sedan skulle göra ett graffiti konstverk av.
Till detta hör att vi tycker att detta djur har fått sätta sitt liv i friheten i sin naturliga miljö för att pryda en vägg i ett hus långt upp i norr, långt ifrån vattenbuffelns hemmiljö för att tillfredsställa någons ego och vara ett samtalsämne. Så vi ville skänka djuret skal en befrielse genom en kremering där vi förflyttade trofén till ett bildligt konstverk, där betraktaren själv får avgöra sin egna tolkning av konstverket. Jag önskar även att påpeka att vi inte tar ställning i frågan om det är rätt eller fel att ha jakttroféer. Det anser jag är upp till var och en att själv bedöma efter frihetslagen för oss människor att själva avgöra vad som är rätt eller fel. Vi hade vårt syfte och vi har gjort detta med detta konstverk vilket vi tar vårt moraliska ansvar för.
